Ha! Fun article.
Sometimes I wonder if the vastness of space would lessen conflict.
If we're free to go wherever we want, why would we go through the extra trouble of plundering someone else's turf?
That'd be a little like if I had a strawberry patch, and my neighbor had a strawberry patch.... and the rest of the world was filled with giant unowned strawberry patches.
Why would I suffer the conflict in stealing from my neighbor?
That's my same argument against the likelihood of aggressive aliens.
What could we possibly have that they couldn't more easily obtain somewhere else?
Obviously, if they got here, they have better technology... and all of our natural resources can be found in abundance throughout the Galaxy and the Universe.
I think the idea of aggressive aliens is a little egocentric. What we have isn't unique or anymore special than all of the other stuff out there.... free for the taking.
If you were hungry and had to steal a loaf of bread, would you steal the one that's in the baker's hand?
