That all sounds pretty scary to me.
We're talking about altering our evolution.
I believe that would be a huge mistake.
I'm all for finding ways to end diseases and to make people fully functional, but against this "super human" notion. That sounds a bit Hitleresque to me.
I'd have to give it a little more thought, but right now, I don't think we should even do it to adapt to other environments, like space, or other planets. I'm more comfortable with creating our own environments within bases and colonies, or terraforming planets and moons that don't have an ecosystem established.
Slow, natural evolution works because it can handle errors by taking many single small steps in various directions at the same time. This works. That doesn't. But the species as a whole survives.
