For me it's a shake my head kind of thing.
I'm not all that surprised, though.
There are quite a few states that are greatly influenced by the fossil fuel industry's misinformation.
Many of the politicians in those states are essentially lawyers for that industry.
If you're a follower, and most humans are, it's easy to go along with your peers, especially when you're bombarded with misinformation on a daily basis.
Of course, they think it's everyone else that's brainwashed.... just like the people in cults believe everyone else is brainwashed.
Look at Sarah Palin, she still has tons of devoted followers, even though she's proven to be a self promoting clown.
Jim Baker went to prison for fraud and people still follow him.
These people usually limit their information sources to those that are consistent with what they believe.
In my opinion, there always has been, and always will be, blind faith followers, and they can't be reasoned with.
We see places in the World where entire countries are following some wingnut leader.
Humans are programmable.
Me... I like to look at the numbers.
If the data adds up to something, that's the direction I lean.
