Just crusin' the site...

What's up, folks?

We're having a thaw here, very foggy.
And the warmer weather has melted a foot or so of snow-- I can see over the snowbanks now when I stop at a back street intersection in town, hurray!

"And you are... ?"

(I'm leaving it WIDE OPEN here, haha!!)

Thanks... Same to you!

Ha! Not much.

We be pretty warm here, too. There isn't any snow that I can see on the ground, or even plowed snow banks along the road. I suppose there are still some piles where they've cleared large parking lots, though.
That's all going to change tonight and tomorrow. They say we're gonna get dumped on pretty good.

I take that back. I just checked. It looks like just north of us will get 12 to 15 inches of snow, but in the cities they're expecting much less at this time. Something like 4 to 6 inches. With the temps staying above freezing, that shouldn't last long. It's going to be a little windy, though. That will stink for those getting a foot or so; drifts all over the place, I would imagine.

I don't like those snow banks at intersections either. You have to creep out in harm's way to see what's going on. We need periscopes in cars. Or radar that can penetrate through snow banks.

I think they chicken out around here because of the political controversy regarding climate.
No matter what they reported, supported by scientific data or no, a group would cry foul.

(They are meteorologists.)

I wish meteorologists would talk more about long term weather patterns.
Our friends from mainland China do just this, when we ask them-- they've studied weather-related info. for a number of decades and always have interesting stories to tell.

Yeah, the resorts have the extra expense of having to make snow. It also affects the sales of winter recreational equipment.
You're right. It's the long term patterns that are really telling. I haven't seen any graphs that are specifically for the state; just global.

Hmm, that must be fairly tough on any businesses in your area who depend on the winter for winter sports like skiing of any sort, snowboarding or sledding (snowmobiling)!

I feel for them--

Nice for the seniors and those who have physical difficulties shovelling snow though--

Yeah, I recall you having told me years ago how much of the white stuff you had to deal with. Your weather patterns really have changed, at least for now.

Got to see a long-term study of these sorts of things to gain a true perspective.

And we're really not all that far apart.
It's that jet stream that dips down into MN, but not all the way to my location, that makes all the difference, I suppose.
I don't think we had a full foot of snow on the ground for any length of time all Winter, here.
That's highly unusual. At least for several years past. Recent years have been light on snow. Times are changing.

We still have a foot of snow on our front lawn, go figure, huh?

Ha! That would be pretty tough to do. It all tracked to the south. We didn't get a single flake. I'd have to build a snowman out of moldy leaves.
Looking through the distorted glass near my front door, I see nothing but grey and brown colors. Grey up. Brown down.
I hear they're also talking about an early Spring.

Ha! have fun gettin' all cold and wet.

"Go outside and play in the snow slready, Kraven!" ...

"Get your exercise and build a snowman! ..."

"BE politically incorrect!"

"I will now begin to crochet a blanket, and then I will go OUT in the snow to play..." says Triss.

"...drifts all over the place"... sound simply DIVINE!!!

(yep.)

I don't tire of fresh snow quickly--- that's why they call me a "Canadian".
