Who would like to match my stair jogging?

5 X up & down a set of stairs (12 steps between the upper & lower floors),

PLUS another 2 sets ...

... Okay, those last 6 or 7 steps couldn't qualify as even a 'slow jog' and I did feel my heart pumping a bit by the end.

Who's game to give it a go?

Just did. Not a jog, though. Just a brisk climb.
Got 12 steps here too. I think that's pretty standard.

Yeah, a bit stimulating here too. Not too much. Not too little. The Goldilocks Zone.

5up, 5 down works good for me too.

I don't know about challenges. I'll have to think about that one.
About all I do that would be considered routine would be a little free weight stuff and the stairs. Oh... I do about 30 pushups now and then. (just 15 at a time)
Nothing real rigorous, or on any strict schedule.

Last week I jogged up & down my stairs 5 X, then that times 9.

I think 5x up & down works well for me, then walk for a while inside, then do the stair routine again.

If you post some challenges in a Q, I'll try to match them.

Now, if I had 9 foot ceilings, I guess I'd have a few more steps to climb...

That's 7X, but I walked back up the stairs. (Our stairs go down from the main level, since we have a walk-out basement and only the two levels.)

We used to have only 11 steps between the two levels, but when we had our reno done, another step was added into the new oak hardwood steps.

Well done K--!
... guess that means I should do my 5X or 7X now, eh?

... Here goes!...

I think you do fine.
Years a go when I was working in Manhattan . I did the gym nights and weekends. After my first company moved I had time to work out daily. Before going back. I was fit.
A friend I met on the bus asked for my help. She was very overweight and her husband supposedly ran Marathons. He was thin but, not impressive. I had fit women and men training me.
This friend joined the gym with me. My favorite teacher was not in on weekends.
I started doing the class. I was showing her each step. After ten, fifteen minutes she said, I am leaving I can't do it. She gave up and ran out.
That is what I define as a quitter with a poor work attitude and really negative self defeating attitude.
I left to and consoled her. I am not that nice anymore. Success is achieved by working hard.
Her thanks to me was not calling me because I was having a child, moving and not keeping in touch.

Tris, non of us are perfect and we all make mistakes. Since I've been sick I made my share. Not any disasters just things I normally don't miss up.

Things turned out extremely well with the young woman I called-- she was very encouraged!

The other woman, she has done many good things in her life and I respect her life's work (she is a very good artist).

She is a generally great person; she just had misjudged me, is all. It doesn't mean she is a terrible person.

Tris some people only want friends they can manipulate and use. They hate people like us.

(-Ah, my conscience has gotten the better of me tonight-- there's a young woman in her 20's that I was a bit harsh on at work last week, and my God was telling me just now that I need to make an apology to her-- I was annoyed about something before I had confronted her about a work-related matter and I owe her an apology--
So I will contact her and seek to make things right.
She is understanding and mature, and a person of faith also, if will go very well and she will appreciate the call.)

That's unfortunate that those women weren't kind to you, I feel for you.
You worked out and got in good shape, and that's a good thing!
They sure sound like they were jealous.
Too bad, they lost a friend in you.

I've had people misunderstand me or treat me poorly in my life as well, I think we all have.
There's a saying that goes like this,
"Don't throw your pearls before the swine."
There's a time to walk away from people who don't treat us well.

I try to reconcile with people, but there is one person who used to be a close friend, but somehow she got the wrong impression about me.
So no matter what I said to her or how kind I was, she would interpret my motives negatively and she convinced herself that I was habitually rude and unkind to her.

When I said "Hello" kindly to her 3 times in a group of friends and when she later told a mutual friend that "I had been unkind to her that night" our mutual friend came to my defence and told this woman the truth: that I had tried to greet her and that this woman had entirely ignored me.

She got the message clearly that day, but I know that this particular woman has had many emotional woundings from both of her parents in her lifetime -- I pray for this woman, but I will not any longer engage in private conversations with her, for I want to protect myself and not be accidentally slandered by her any longer, whether intentional or not.

Most people aren't like her, but there are a few 'strange ones' out there that we'd just as well avoid altogether, Philosopher.

I'm a very forgiving person, but I have my 'tipping point' as well.

You and I always help others. Good people want to help us. He was a young, bright young man. He liked seeing me improve. I shared what I learned too.
Some gyms have a helpful attitudes. Others are too click link.
There were two air heads that came to my classes and always try to antagonize me. I was in better shape than them. The class always followed me and my friend. When the teacher stopped demonstrating. I was intelligent and they were very dumb.
When I returned after pregnancy the young man had left.
When I returned after having my son the catty moron went too far. She sent another mother who just had a baby to tell me I lost all my weight but, I am out shape.
She asked how I lost all the weight and why I was not in the shape I use to be?
I said, I only gained 27 pounds. I quickly lost it. Monday through Saturday my son is the priority. I work out nights and Sundays. It will take time to get back in the shape I was. I could not work out while pregnant. I was sick. She said but, why are you so thin. She said, I will never be thin again.
I told her we are both pretty and she is jealous. Why do care what she thinks? She catty and dumb.
She said, how this moron women said, she had her children young. I said, when I was young I went to college and than I worked for years. Unlike her I use my brain and don't spend my life looking in a mirror. She has no intelligence and I do not care what an uneducated moron thinks of me. When her children are grown her marriage will probably be over. A mature male won't want a moron for a wife who contributes nothing. Her only purpose was sex and babies. I hope she told the air heard what I said. They never hassled me again.
Yes Tris, I was very mean and rude but, it was justified. I ignored her for years. After a difficult pregnancy I was done being tolerate of viscous, vile morons.
When I came back my gym buddy decided she didn't want hang because I wasn't their while pregnant. LOL, I told her no problem I spend five says a week with my Gymboree friends and Sunday here.
I treat kind people kind and vicious people as they deserve.

I can tell you, I am tired of spending that money for a personal trainer!

Enough of that for me-- maybe your friend knows of someone in Northern Canada who could help me?!
Well, I'm in jest, but that sure was kind of that fellow to help you out.

I never wanted to spend money for a personal trainer. I always had other expenses. My friend who worked at my gym took on training me. He said, I know you can do it, your smart and you remind me of my girlfriend. He was a sweet, bright young man studying to be a civil engineer.
I wish I could run into him. I say thank you.

That's true Phil, success is through working hard.

And yet, I heard on the radio a few years ago about how it can take a person a number of times in trying different clubs to join before they joined the one that worked for them.

When our girls were in elementary school(grade school to you) I worked out a couple of times a week, but before I was comfortable working out at that all women's club I had tried two others where it just didn't seem to fit who I was.

One of the clubs had this "Chatty Cathy" in the middle of the huge circle, with all of the machines surrounding her. And you'd be on a machine for maybe 30 or 40 seconds, then on to this jogging mat, then on to the next machine, all the while enduring these pathetic "Go, go! You can do it girls/ladies, I know you can!" with this overly enthusiastic music in the background.

I didn't last there long -- too 'micro-managed' for my liking.

Once I'm in the door of a gym, I do some opening stretches, some cardio for 10 - 20 minutes(depending on the time I have), then my 1/2 hour workout on the machines.
Then I'd finish with a more thorough stretching routine.

Now that I've hired a trainer, I would push myself a lot more while on my own, that I know.

It's good to talk about it here.
I find it motivating.

My next workout will be on Wednesday, but only once a week.
I think I need to join a club or go to a local community centre with a gym (that would be the equivalent of 'pay per use' each time).

Our neighbouring town has a good community centre and it's only a 15 minute drive away.

I can put our trampoline up next month, I've gone for 3 walks this week, and today I did 6 or 7 stretches.

But the cardio, that's what I've done the least & tend to leave out, if anything.

What do you do for a cardio workout?
Is the elliptical enough for that?
