Ideally, as you say, everyone should help fund asteroid research, but ya know, we can't even get the idiots on Capitol Hill to agree on regulations that protect the environment, and us from pollution.
Why?... Politicians are corrupt and in the pockets of industries that profit from their polluting ways.
People vote for politicians that preach deregulation in the name of smaller government, which is only a cover for the fact that they're sponsored by industries that will benefit from deregulation, and then these voters wonder why they can't drink their water due to toxic spills.
And to top that... They'll go back to the voting booth and vote for these same crooks again.
Capitol Hill is so corrupt it can't even take care of America, so I can't see the US rallying the World on any issue.
The US, and the World for that matter, better wake up to the fact that we've been putting greedy crooks and thugs in office, or we'll be standing around and scratching our butts when a real threat does arise.
Obviously, I shouldn't have watched "Meet the Press" this morning.
They touched on the climate change issue with some idiot representative from Tennessee.
To make things worse, they had Bill Nye, who is nearly worthless without a script, on the other side of the issue.
I really should know better than to watch these political game playing programs.
